Description

Featured on Huell Howser's "California's Gold" in 2009. It is one of the many historic towns in California's gold country, and is today a California Historical Landmark. The history of Smartsville was written in the HPI Chronicles Volume III: Beyond the Norm by Alison Breskin in reguard of California's rich gold history. There is a beautiful church within the town. During the California Gold Rush, Smartsville was a small pioneer town where hydraulic - or placer - mining was extensively practiced.
A gold country gem!
